Day 7 - 151109 Cu Chi Tunnel

Cu Chi Tunnel shows how adaptable and creativity the Viet Congs are during the Vietnam War. In order to prevent the Americans from taking over the village, Viet Congs dug tunnels and set up homes inside the tunnel. The tunnels are very complex but are very neffective in stopping the Americans. The tunnel can go as long as 50km!
The pupils got a chance to walk for 80 metres inside the tunnel.

Sandals made of tyres. Used tyres were cut up into pieces and brought down to the tunnel. Then the local women will start to make the sandals. One interesting thing about the sandal is that it can be worn 2 ways. One is to mislead the Americans e.g. if the Viet Cons want to go north, they may want to reverse the way they wear their sandals to trick the Americans they are going South!

These empty shells were left behind by the Americans when their army bombed Cu Chi Village. The Viet Congs collecteed them and make them into deadly weapons to fight against the Americans

First you don't see it...

...now, you do. Tunnels dug by the Viet Congs. They are just big enough for the smaller size Viet Congs to fit in.
